We All Have a Story

I sleep with this squishmallow pillow every night. Why?

Makayla gave it to me!

I remember that day, about two years ago. It was a Sunday and I wasn’t feeling too well. Mike took the kids for a Costco run to help give me some quiet time . When they got home, I heard running little feet to my bedroom... it was Makayla holding this pillow with a big smile on her face. She handed it to me and said, “Here mommy, this will help you feel better.”

I named it “Sunday” right then and there because I always wanted to remember that moment in time! My precious girl was always thinking of others. This was literally her handing over her heart to me.

Many days since she passed away, I will grab this pillow and squeeze it, hold it, cry with it or simply whisper message like “I love you Makayla and miss you so much!” God is in the details! He is in everything. He gave me a vivid memory so I could look back on moments like these.

My stories may not be Blockbuster worthy but could mean something to someone. It takes courage for me to share what’s tucked inside my heart but it also gives me strength to keep going! I know God finds me in my brokenness and wants me to live free in that same brokenness so people can see the great things He is doing in my life. I want to give other people hope. I want to show how God can heal. And I want to tell my story in the raw and let it reveal His hand.
